David Wilson

David joined ONR in January 2026 in the role of Finance Director.

After training as a chartered accountant with Grant Thornton in London, David led cross-functional teams to deliver strategic projects with a global scope and advised clients in countries including Canada, Oman, Qatar, the UAE and the UK. Following a successful career in professional services, David joined the UK Civil Service in 2021 initially working on transport decarbonisation. David subsequently served as the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer of the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education.

Alongside his role with the ONR, David serves as a non-executive on the Council of ICAS, the professional body for chartered accountants, and is Deputy Chair of the Alumni Council of the University of Cambridge’s Judge Business School.

David holds an BA (Hons) in Accounting from Abertay University and an MBA from the University of Cambridge.
