Nuclear safeguards
Nuclear safeguards are measures to verify that countries comply with international obligations not to use nuclear materials from civil nuclear programmes for non-peaceful purposes.
Transport of radioactive material
We are the competent authority for the transport of radioactive material (Class 7 dangerous goods) by road, rail and inland waterways within Great Britain. This role is overseen within ONR by the Transport Competent Authority team with the support of suitably qualified inspectors.
Nuclear site health and safety
The Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) is Great Britain’s (GB) regulator for health and safety at GB nuclear licensed sites.
