Subject(s) of inspection
- LC28 – Examination, inspection, maintenance and testing – Rating: Green
Key findings, inspector’s opinions and reasons for judgement made
In accordance with the Office for Nuclear Regulation’s (ONR’s) Dungeness B (DNB) intervention plan, ONR performs a series of planned compliance inspections of identified licence conditions (LCs) and other applicable legislation, to ensure that DNB is meeting its legal requirements.
The aim of this intervention was to perform a rated LC28 (examination, inspection, maintenance and testing) intervention examining whether DNB is appropriately managing its systems, structures and components such that they can meet the defueling mission (and beyond where applicable) using its lifetime asset management plan process.
ONR found that DNB:
- has followed a systematic approach to produce its lifetime asset management plans.
- has produced a comprehensive suite of lifetime asset management documents which have been subject to appropriate governance and oversight.
- is effectively managing the resultant LAMP actions and has implemented appropriate governance and oversight.
Conclusion
I judge that an inspection rating of Green (no formal action) is appropriate for LC28. This is because I found that DNB was able to demonstrate that it was appropriately managing and implementing its lifetime asset management plans. I have however provided advice regarding some areas for potential further improvement.
