Key findings, inspector’s opinions and reasons for judgement made
I carried out a themed Licence Condition (LC)32, LC34 and LC35 inspection at the Magnox Ltd Hinkley Point A site. I reviewed the arrangements for these LCs and was able to establish the “golden thread” in the management system for them. I used a walkdown of the Pre-Conditioning Facility (PCF) to check for compliance against LC34. I inspected waste records and conduct a site walkdown to inspect accumulations for compliance against LC32. I inspected the Hinkley Point A, Radioactive Waste Management Case and the site’s decommissioning and life-time plans to ensure compliance with LC35.
Conclusion
In my opinion, the Licensee’s arrangements for compliance with LC32, LC34 and LC35 are adequate. I inspected waste records and conducted a site walkdown to inspect accumulations for compliance against LC32 and it was my opinion that adequate arrangements had been made and implemented on the site. My plant walk-down of the Pre-Conditioning Facility demonstrated compliance against LC34. The Hinkley Point A, Radioactive Waste Management Case and the site’s decommissioning and life-time plans were in my opinion compliant with the requirements of LC35. I therefore concluded that this inspection identified no further matters that may impact significantly on nuclear safety.
